History of Medicine

This course is continuing from Term 2. 

Topics to be covered:

  • Medicine in Middle ages dominated by religion, sickness a punishment from God.
  • Florence Nightingale training hospital, face transplants, Bayer company and asprin, Aztec Medicine plus strange and unusual stories eg how did a cabin boy survive freezing water when the Titanic sank.
  • First blood bank, Edward Jenner and small pox, Bubonic Plague plus more interesting and strange tales.
